Katherine T. Koelzer

Katherine is an honor student at Northview High School.  She plans to obtain a Ph.D. in Microbiology, with an emphasis on research.  Katherine’s goal is to become a Medical Doctor or Biochemical Researcher.

Katherine’s recommendations were absolutely glowing.  Her chemistry teacher stated, “She is a student that thrives off of the inevitable challenges life presents.  Whether that challenge happens to be the rigorous course load she has carried here at Northview High School, participation in the wind ensemble or three varsity sports, she has always set the bar very high for herself.  Having taught her in chemistry, I think she only missed three questions in two semesters of work.

I have also had the opportunity to coach Katherine in Track and Field.  She consistently provides a model of work ethic, drive and sportsmanship that the younger athletes aspire to.” 

Katherine’s  math teacher states, “Katherine is one of the strongest math students that he has taught.  She is an excellent student, and has acted as his aide by helping others while he was busy.  She has an

excellent attitude, and is an extremely hard worker.  She has completed all assignments, received 100% on all quizzes and tests for 2 years.  Katherine is one of those students that come along rarely.”

Katherine’s extra-curricular activities include Varsity Basketball, Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Track, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, National Honor Society.

Katherine’s community activities include Kent County Animal Shelter Volunteer, Pet Therapy Volunteer at Adult Day Care Center, Fostering homeless kittens, Northview Youth Basketball Clinic Volunteer.

Other awards Katherine received include Parliamentarian of National Honor Society, Team Captain in Basketball, Volleyball, and Track.

The Roger B. Chaffee scholarship fund is proud to have Katherine as

its 38th scholar.
